Unofficial Color Fun Run to benefit Operation Prom-ise

Posted by wlpo on September 24, 2013

Who needs a blue ribbon when you can cross the finish line wearing a rainbow of color?  The Operation Prom-ise Unofficial Color Fun 5K Run-Walk is Sunday at St. Bede Academy.  And unlike the other 5K’s, it’s not a race but a fundraiser for the anti-teen drinking and driving video.

If you’re not familiar with a color fun run, don’t worry it doesn’t involve being hit with paintballs.  LP High School teacher Georgia Stohr says you’ll reach four color stations where you will be able to run through a colorful powder that will stick to your clothes if they are damp.

The course will have you running or walking through grassy areas of the school’s campus.

Registration is $40 in advance and $45 on the day of the race.  The run-walk starts at 9am.

Learn more about the event by listening to an interview that’s available at the WLPO AM and FM news page.

Police investigate “dead dog” letters in La Salle

Posted by wlpo on September 24, 2013

Is your neighbor’s dog driving you mad?  Three people in La Salle received notes reading, “Dead dogs don’t bark”.  They told the police about the odd letters Saturday.

Police Chief Rob Uranich says they could be from a disgruntled neighbor, though they haven’t received any barking dog complaints from part of town where the notes were received.  Uranich says the people who received the notes claim they don’t know who would send them.

A post that’s being shared on Facebook claims that a dog in La Salle was poisoned, but Uranich says no one has told them about it.

Uranich says it looks like one note was sent by U.S. Mail, one had a stamp but wasn’t post marked and another must have been dropped off.
