Felton arraignment rescheduled

Richard Felton of Tonica – the alleged “Sandy Ford Bridge shooter” – will be arraigned for attempted murder tommorrow (Monday) before Judge Cynthia Raccuglia. Felton is in the county jail on three million dollars bond. He was scheduled in Ottawa court Friday but his attorney was observing a Jewish holiday. The shooting victim, Jeremy Wade of Grand Ridge is still recovering from a shotgun wound to the face and a broken hip.

Lance trial postponed

The potential trial of an Oglesby man charged with car and garage break-ins has been delayed.
Anthony Lance was in La Salle County Court Friday for a final pre-trial hearing. This hearing was postponed until November 15th and Lance was given a new court date of November 18th in front of Judge Cynthia Raccuglia.
Lance was arrested in mid-June for allegedly breaking in cars and garages in Utica. He’s charged with residential burglary, two counts of burglary and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Lance is being held at the La Salle County Jail on 250 thousand dollars bond.

Devilettes fundraising for Orlando trip

The Hall High School Devilettes have plans for New Years Day. The dancers are fundraising in hopes of performing in the Capital One Bowl in Orlando. Hall High School’s website says a bake sale is set for tommorrow night (Monday) at the Big House, instructing pre-school to fifth grade girls to dance during the week of the 23rd, a driving experience at Spring Valley Ford the 28th and a spagetti dinner at Angelo’s the 30th. Additional events are listed on the school’s website – hall high school dot org.

driver not hurt after crash

No injuries. No alcohol in the crash of a Downers Grove man’s motorcycle on Utica’s north side yesterday (Saturday). Utica police Lt. Nanouski told WLPO AM and FM news 51-year old Daniel Swick was southbound on Route 178 when his Honda cycle began to shimmy. Driver and cycle stopped in Mill run creek next to the City Limits Inn property. Witnesses said Swick wasn’t speeding. Nanouski said Swick wasn’t hurt and he wasn’t ticketed.

School Bus driver drinking and driving

A northern Illinois elementary school bus driver has been charged with driving drunk while on duty. Forty-two-year-old Jill Beebe of South Elgin was arrested Friday while working her route in West Chicago after a school employee reported that she thought she smelled alcohol on the driver’s breath. A judge set her bond at $100,000 this weekend.

22nd straight award for Days Inn Oglesby

“Days Inn” number 1700 worldwide…and less than 15% win a Chairmans award. Last Tuesday, “Days Inn” of Oglesby won their 22nd straight Chairman’s award for quality. GM Joanne Jones was there to collect it in Las Vegas. Jones told WLPO AM and FM news the award goes to “Days Inns” consistently exceeding guests expectations and standards set by their Corporate parent. The Oglesby location also won “Trip Advisor’s Certificate of Excellence” with 4.5 points out of 5. “Trip Advisor” is a website that claims unbiased hotel reviews and travel advice. Jones, Oglesby “Days Inn” manager since it opened in 1991, said she was immensely proud of her staff. “Days Inn” of Oglesby is owned by SBK Inc.

Eat and fly at the airport

You can fly in or drive in to the Illinois Valley Regional Airport in Peru for breakfast today.  The annual breakfast is all-you-can-eat with eggs, pancakes, and sausage. And of course there will be a lot of planes. The TBM Avenger, the World War II bomber will  be available for rides. The breakfast is from 7-noon. Adults eat for seven dollars and children ages 12 to four for three dollars.  It’s sponsored by the Illinois Valley Flying Club.

Homestead Festival final day

A five piece band – The Jimmy Valentine Quintet – will put the jazz into  worship at 10:30 today at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Princeton. It’s  one of many events today – the last day of the Homestead Festival.  Festival 56 is staging  “Hometown Anonymous” – a play based upon stories submitted by Princeton residents at the Grace Performing Arts Center this afternoon. The Moose Lodge is host to a breakfast till Noon.  A window display contest,  a car show on South Main, Pork Producers Barbeque, Child’s tractor pull,  petting zoo, talent show, BBQ rib cookoff and tours of the Owen Lovejoy homestead round out the list.  See the complete schedule at homestead festival dot com.
