Annual breakfast is Sunday at Peru airport

Posted by wlpo on September 13, 2013

You can fly in or drive in to the Illinois Valley Regional Airport in Peru for breakfast Sunday.

The annual breakfast is all-you-can-eat with eggs, pancakes, and sausage.  And of course there will be a lot of planes.  Chuck Studer runs the airport and says a ride in a small plane is different from a ride in an airliner.

The TBM Avenger, the World War II bomber will also be available for rides.  The breakfast is from 7am-12pm, Sunday.  Adults eat for $7 and children ages 12 to 4 for $3.

It’s sponsored by the Illinois Valley Flying Club. Learn more by listening to an interview that’s available at the WLPO AM and FM news page.

Food Pantry Puts Out Plea For Help

Posted by wlpo on September 13, 2013

If you can spare a few bucks, the Illinois Valley Food Pantry could use your help.

While sending out a reminder that September is “Hunger Awareness” month, Illinois Valley Food Pantry Executive Director Donna Hess says this time of the year is very crucial for them because their cash funds are very low.  If you’re hesitant on donating cold hard cash, Hess says you can always give a grocery gift card or maybe save up your change at work for a week and give it to the food pantry.

If you’d like to donate, the Illinois Valley Food Pantry is on Marquette Street in downtown La Salle.
