Peru doctor indicted on drug charges

          A local doctor who had his office raided by the FBI was indicted on felony drug charges.  Dr. Constantino Perales of Peru faces two counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance in La Salle County.  He was indicted Tuesday.

Officers arrested Perales at his Seventh Street Clinic office in Peru August 26.  The arrest came after what police called a lengthy investigation into the dealing of Oxycontin and Lorazepam, both prescription drugs. 

Perales remains in the La Salle County Jail with his bond set at $1 million.  At the time of Perales’s arrested, La Salle County State’s Attorney Brian Towne said more charges were expected.

Grand Jury indicts man accused of Sandy Ford Bridge shooting

          Several weeks after a man was shot on the Sandy Ford Bridge, the man accused of pulling the trigger remains in jail.  Richard Felton of Tonica and Chicago was indicted Tuesday by a La Salle County Grand Jury.  He’s charged with attempted first degree murder for the shooting of Jeremy Wade of Grand Ridge.

Police say Wade was shot in the face, fell from the bridge and broke his hip the night of August 18.   Felton was arrested a little over 24 hours later in Bettendorf, Iowa. 

Felton remains in jail while Wade recovers from his injuries.

Police Carry Out Alleged Drug Raid At Peru And Spring Valley Smoke Shops

The owners of smoke shops in Spring Valley and Peru face felony drug charges after police raided the stores.

Police officers searched the Peru Smoke Shop and Spring Valley Smoke Shop Tuesday morning.  The bust came after a two-month long investigation into the sale and distribution of synthetic drugs.  Police say they say an undercover investigator bought drugs from the Spring Valley store several times.

The owner of the Spring Valley store, Ibrahim Abu Romi, was arrested on a warrant for unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.

A man that was in the store, Garry Finkbeiner of St. Charles, Missouri was arrested for possession of a controlled substance after police say they found bags of the drug K-2 in his car.

While that was happening, Peru Police were arresting Abdel Rahman of Tinley Park unlawful delivery of the drug XLR 11 and unlawful possession with intent to deliver.  Rahman was taken to the La Salle County Jail and is expected to be in bond court Wednesday.

Romi and Finkbeiner were taken to the Bureau County Jail.  Romi posted $1,500 bond and was already released.  Finkbeiner was waiting for a bond hearing.
