Posted by wlpo on September 10, 2013

The owners of smoke shops in Spring Valley and Peru face felony drug charges after police raided the stores.

Police officers searched the Peru Smoke Shop and Spring Valley Smoke Shop Tuesday morning.  The bust came after a two-month long investigation into the sale and distribution of synthetic drugs.  Police say they say an undercover investigator bought drugs from the Spring Valley store several times.

The owner of the Spring Valley store, Ibrahim Abu Romi, was arrested on a warrant for unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.

A man that was in the store, Garry Finkbeiner of St. Charles, Missouri was arrested for possession of a controlled substance after police say they found bags of the drug K-2 in his car.

While that was happening, Peru Police were arresting Abdel Rahman of Tinley Park unlawful delivery of the drug XLR 11 and unlawful possession with intent to deliver.  Rahman was taken to the La Salle County Jail and is expected to be in bond court Wednesday.

Romi and Finkbeiner were taken to the Bureau County Jail.  Romi posted $1,500 bond and was already released.  Finkbeiner was waiting for a bond hearing.
