Active search suspended for escapee in Bureau County

Posted by wlpo on September 4, 2015

It’s been over 36 hours since Joshua Drinnon escaped at a rest stop on westbound Interstate 80 near Princeton, and the Illinois State Police say the active search for him in the area has been suspended.

Drinnon still hasn’t been found and police will handle possible sightings of him on a case-by-case basis. A few sightings yesterday failed to turn up the escapee.

The United States Marshall Service has taken over the case. Drinnon has been able to evade capture despite dogs, officers, airplanes and helicopters all being used to find him.

He was on his way to San Diego from Tennessee facing a charge of aggravated robbery. He’s considered dangerous so if you spot him, don’t approach him, just call the police.
