Online registration available for Out of the Darkness Walk

Posted by wlpo on September 22, 2011

If you’ve been meaning to sign up for the Out of the Darkness Walk, online registration goes until noon today.  People participating in the walk Sunday at Baker Lake are trying to raise awareness of depression and suicide prevention.  They’re also remembering the people they’ve lost to suicide.

You’ll still be able to register in person an hour before the walk, Sunday at noon.  Registration will be on the west side of the park.  Balloons will be also on sale for a balloon launch before the walk begins at 1pm, rain or shine.  You can walk as much or little as you like.  You can also bring a picture for the memorial wall.

Health Clinic Idea Moves Ahead At IVCC

Posted by wlpo on September 22, 2011

With nursing being so big at Illinois Valley Community College, it shouldn’t be unreasonable to think the school could have an on-campus health clinic.

The IVCC Board of Trustees this week decided to go out for bid for health care providers to provide a walk-in on campus health clinic.  The clinic will offer limited medical services to students and staff. Illinois Valley Community Hospital first approached IVCC about the idea.

The clinic would be open at least 16 hours a week.
