Two bald eagles dead after hitting a semi

Two bald eagles are dead after flying into a semi truck near Hennepin.    Conservation Police Sgt. Robert Frazier says it happened Friday morning on Interstate 180.  The truck driver says the eagles were fighting and than flew into the truck.  He says he tried to avoid them.

Their remains will be handed over to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Kentville Road to be closed next week

Railroad repairs will have a stretch of Kentville Road closed in Bureau County.

Crews with Union Pacific will start working at 8:30am Monday.   Kentville Road, or County Highway 16, will be closed from Route 40 east to the Wyanet/Walnut Blacktop.  It will be closed through the end of the work day Tuesday.  You’ll be detoured onto the Putnam/Bradford Blacktop.

Firearm deer season off to a safe start

The firearm deer season would seem to be off to a safe start.  Conservation Police Sgt. Robert Frazer said by Friday afternoon they only had minor issues and no injuries.

It’s been a good season for Josh Riggs.  It was estimated to weight 175 pounds Riggs shot a 31 point buck Friday morning near Peru.
