Rash Of Car Break-Ins Target Peru Shoppers

Posted by wlpo on November 12, 2011

If you’re going shopping this weekend in Peru, lock the car doors.

Peru Police are investigating at least eight cars being broken into recently in the parking lots of the Peru Mall, Aldi’s, and Peru Place Shopping Center.  The cars were either unlocked or the burglar or burglars broke out a window to get inside.

Chief Doug Bernabei says in most cases GPS units or other things left in plain sight were stolen.

If you have information on the burglaries, call Peru Police.

Bald Eagle Release At Starved Rock

Posted by wlpo on November 12, 2011

Two new bald eagles will soon be soaring above Starved Rock State Park.

Two eaglets will be released into the wild at Plum Island this afternoon.  The bald eagles were rescued earlier this year after their nest was blown down by a storm near Aurora.

Plum Island was picked because the eaglets won’t have to migrate.  Hundreds of bald eagles flock to the island during the winter.

If you want to see the eaglet release, meet up at the Starved Rock Visitor’s Center starting at 11.
