Tax Preparer And Investment Broker Running For La Salle County Treasurer

Two Peruvians want to be the next La Salle County treasurer.

Republican James Spelich and Democrat Edward McConville both filed their election papers this week to run for treasurer.  Spelich is an investment broker while McConville is a tax preparer.

Current Treasurer Don Lamps who is a Republican is not seeking a fourth term.

Monday is the last day you can turn in election petitions to be on the March primary election ballot.

Ottawa Air Force Veteran Wants To Challenge Kinzinger

If Adam Kinzinger survives the Republican Primary in March he will face off against a fellow Air Force veteran in November.

Democrat Randall Olsen of Ottawa has filed to run for the 16th Congressional District seat.  Olsen graduated from Ottawa High School in 1966 and went on to serve 20 years in the Air Force working as a X-Ray and nuclear medicine technician.  He retired this past August as a nuclear cardiology technician.  Olsen also studied four years at a seminary.

Reported Stabbing In Rural Princeton

Deputies in Bureau County are searching for answers in a possible stabbing near Princeton.

According to the NewsTribune, 85-year old Margaret Twidell drove herself to Perry Memorial Hospital Sunday after being cut by a “sharp instrument” inside her home.  Investigators say they’re focusing their attention on Margaret’s husband 86-year old George Twidell.  The NewsTribune says the husband was taken to Proctor Hospital for reasons associated with the stabbing incident.

The victim meanwhile has since been released from the hospital.
