L-P Volleyball Team Advances To State

After a slow start Saturday night, the La Salle-Peru volleyball team fought back and defeated Champaign Centennial for a spot in the Class 3A state volleyball semifinals.

L-P lost the first set 16-25 but then rallied to win the second set 25-23 and the final set 25-21.  The 34-3 Lady Cavs will play Chicago Payton Friday afternoon at 4:30 on the campus of Illinois State University at Redbird Arena.

Pregame starts around 4:20 for your voice of the statebound Lady Cavs, WLPO AM and FM.

Fundraising Continues To Send L-P Choir To The Big Apple

Have an artsy person in the family? If yes, the Knights of Columbus in La Salle should’ve been included in your schedule Saturday.

The L-P Choir hosted a holiday vendor and craft fair.  Proceeds will help send choir members to New York.  They’ve been invited to perform next spring at Carnegie Hall.

Lily Rosploch Declares Herself Cancer Free

The 4-year old from La Salle who  has captured the hearts of the Illinois Valley in her battle with Neuroblastoma has declared herself cancer free.

Lily Rosploch took to Facebook Friday and announced the exciting news. She was diagnosed in June of 2012 but was told this week she is cancer free.

Rosploch and her family have been making several trips to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis for cancer treatment along with Peoria in the past year and half.  Her Facebook page called “Rally for Lily” has almost 17,000 “likes”.

Lily’s dad Mike says “the war is not over but a main battle has been won”.

Peru Doctor Out Of Federal Custody

The Peru doctor accused of dealing drugs to his patients is out of custody for the first time since being arrested in August.

62-year old Constantino Perales posted 10 thousand dollars bond after appearing in federal court in Chicago yesterday afternoon.  He’s accused of illegally giving Oxycodone and Alprazolam to three patients on 17 occasions between May 2012 and August 2013. Each of the 17 counts against him carries up to 20 years in prison and a one million dollar fine.

Perales will be electronically monitored at his home.  His next federal court date is New Year’s Eve.
