Big Donation For IVCC’s New Tech Center

More movers and shakers in the Illinois Valley are putting their money behind the new Peter Miller Community Technology Center.

Steve and Laurie Bonucci of Princeton are pledging 6 thousand dollars to the capital campaign for the new technology center on the campus of Illinois Valley Community College.  Laurie Bonucci is on the IVCC Board of Trustees.

The college is trying to raise $2.1 million dollars to help fund the technology center.

Local Food Pantry Gearing Up For Thanksgiving

Before you know it, the relatives will be coming over for Thanksgiving.  Hundreds of families in the Illinois Valley will be happy to have any kind of meal.

The Illinois Valley Food Pantry in La Salle expects to help 750 families during this year’s Thanksgiving meal distribution.  Meals will be handed out November 23rd.

The pantry as always could use monetary donations and food donations like turkeys, hams, instant potatoes, corn, green beans and Jell-O.

Alleged Drug Dealing Doctor In Peru Back In Court

A little over a month away from his trial date, Dr. Constantino Perales of Peru made another appearance in La Salle County Court.

Perales and his lawyer asked Judge Cynthia Raccuglia to lower his bond amount which is at a million dollars.  According to the NewsTribune, Raccuglia denied Perales’ request after the prosecution said they have video of Perales dealing drugs at his clinic before he was arrested in late August.

Perales faces two counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.  His trial is scheduled for November 18th.

Morris Woman Dead After Being Found In Retention Pond

Questions surround the death of a Morris woman who was found in a retention pond.

The Grundy County Coroner’s office says 53-year old Constance “Connie” Stacy for whatever reason drove off Anne Lane in Morris and ended up in the retention pond south of Interstate 80.  Stacy was found inside the vehicle and rushed to Morris Hospital where she was pronounced dead just before midnight Friday.

Grundy County Coroner John Callahan says no one else was in Stacy’s vehicle.  The investigation continues.
