Sewer work to affect Ottawa Avenue

A block of Ottawa Avenue will be closed Friday so workers can install a sewer line.  They’ll be working in the 900 block.  Only local traffic will be able to get through.  You’re asked t use Taylor Street and Illinois Avenue instead.  of Ottawa Avenue tomorrow.

Work will start at 7am and should be completed by the end of the day.

Pow Wow Days Return

It’s time to celebrate in Tiskilwa with the annual Pow Wow Days.

The festival runs through Sunday and kicks off tonight at 5 with the opening of food stands and a beer garden.  Later this evening there’s the queen pageant, live music, and kids pedal tractor pull.

The Pow Wow Days Parade is Saturday morning at 10:30.

Local State Troopers Honored By Peers

Troopers from around the state have been recognized for their professionalism including three from District 17 in La Salle.

Trooper Michael Kasprak was nominated for officer of the year along with 32 other officers.  Mark Morscheiser was nominated for telecommunicator of the year with 14 others.

Trooper Brian Lewis received a Lifesaving Medal.

Water Issues In Dalzell

Water is off in part of Dalzell because of a water main break.

The leak is centered on Luce Street and the shutoff is affecting the east side of the village.  No word on when the water will be turned back on.

When it does come back on, there will be a boil order.
