Rural Ladd home burns early Sunday

Posted by wlpo on July 14, 2013

Fire was at work early today (Sunday) in an older two story farmhouse, a mile west and a half mile south of Ladd. Ladd fire chief, B J Liebe, said flames starting in the rear of the house, had a half hour start. Liebe said when they arrived at 1:20am, flames were already through the roof. It took Ladd and seven other departments an hour to get the upper hand and three hours to extinguish it. The job was slowed because water had to be shuttled in by tanker. Liebe said the house is occupied but the resident wasn’t home at the time. The house is considered a total loss. An attached garage was saved despite receiving fire damage. The cause is undetermined but not suspicious. A neighbor going home noticed the flames and made the call.
