Man wanted by IDOC arrested in Mendota

Having a train station is convenient when you want to travel to Chicago. But train stations can also attract strangers. A man wanted on an Illinois Department of Corrections warrant was found Friday evening at the Mendota Amtrak station.

Police arrested Lorenzo Patton of Harvey. Patton was also wanted for aggravated battery and was taken to the La Salle County Jail.

Medical marijuana could be moving to Peru

A truck terminal on the north side of Peru could be a new medical marijuana cultivation center. Agricare, LLC is asking the city for a special use to move to 22 Unytite Drive. The property is zoned M2 manufacturing.

In their application, Agricare claims they would be bring 100 construction jobs and 150 fulltime jobs in the first three years it is open.

The request goes before the Peru City Council Monday night.
