Questions remain surrounding LP grad’s death

Posted by wlpo on June 20, 2014

The investigation is still ongoing into Monday night’s fatal crash that killed a teen from La Salle.

La Salle County Coroner Jodi Bernard says she’s still awaiting autopsy and toxicology results for 17-year-old Zachary Behrens. The autopsy was done Tuesday in Will County and Bernard says it could be a couple of weeks before they get official results.

Behrens was pronounced dead Monday night after driving into a pool of water on the U.S. Silica Sand property in Ottawa. Investigators think Behrens was speeding down Main Street when he hit a curb, drove through a grassy area, crashed through a security fence, went up and over an embankment and down about 60 feet into the pit.

Funeral service information for Behrens is available at the WLPO AM and FM In Memorium Page.
