La Salle County Clerk Considering Gay Marriage Licenses After Judge’s Ruling

Posted by wlpo on February 27, 2014

Gay marriage licenses aren’t available in La Salle County but that could soon change.

Following a federal judge’s ruling that Illinois’ same-sex marriage ban is unconstitutional in Cook County, the county clerk in Champaign County began issuing gay marriage licenses feeling that the ban is illegal all across the state.  La Salle County Clerk JoAnn Carretto says she will check with the La Salle County State’s Attorney’s Office before issuing gay marriage licenses before the ban technically ends June 1st.

Even if you can’t get a gay marriage license in Ottawa, you and your mate can get legally married in Cook County.  There is no wedding license fee if you already have a civil union license.
