Shooting In Spring Valley Centered Around A Drug Deal

Posted by wlpo on December 20, 2013

A shooting in Spring Valley was apparently a drug deal gone bad.

Spring Valley Police Chief Kevin Sangston says his department got a 911 call just after midnight this morning from a 22-year old man from Ladd who said he had been shot.  Sangston says the shooting victim was hit in the lower back and a grazing wound to the arm.  He was taken to St. Margaret’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Sangston says the shooting was a result of the victim’s involvement in a drug deal.  Others have been interviewed and possible shooting suspects have been identified according to Sangston.

The shooting report says the location was Cleveland Street at Strong Street.

L-P Reacts To Arrest Of Former Wrestling Coach

Posted by wlpo on December 20, 2013

L-P has released a statement following the arrest of former wrestling coach and security greeter Matt Fletcher.

Director of Communications Matt Baker says the district is appalled by the alleged morally reprehensible behavior.  The school is making counselors available to students and staff.  Baker says anyone with more information about the charge or other alleged inappropriate conduct by Fletcher should call the La Salle Police Department, La Salle County State’s Attorney’s Office or Illinois Valley Crime Stoppers.

Baker says information about alleged problems involving Fletcher was passed along Monday morning to L-P administrators and they quickly started an internal investigation.
