St. Baldricks Fundraiser Returns

Posted by wlpo on March 1, 2013

If you’ve been growing your hair to stay warm during the winter, it’s time to get a cut in the name of childhood cancer research.

The Ottawa chapter of St. Baldrick’s is again lining up people to shave their heads to fight cancer.  The kickoff event is happening today at Seneca High School with well over 100 people signed for a haircut Saturday, March 9th at Jeremiah Joe in Ottawa.

Organizer Rita Chovan is overwhelmed by how successful St. Baldrick’s has been. For the first time, Chovan herself is getting her head shaved.  She says she’s most worried of being cold.

Between the Seneca fundraiser, Jeremiah Joes and St. Baldrick’s events later this month at Wallace School and Jefferson Elementary in Ottawa, Chovan hopes to raise over 60 thousand dollars.

You can get more information by listening to an interview with Chovan on the AM 1220 WLPO news page.
