Peru plans an appliance pickup week

It’s time to get ride of the old refrigerator that’s taking up space in the garage or the washer that only leaves your clothes wet.  People in Peru can set out large appliances during a special pickup week beginning April 16.

Leave your item on the curb and it will be collected on your garbage day.

Oglesby Police Department sponsoring a family movie night

Friday night is a great night for watching a movie.  Bring your family to Oglesby Lincoln School Friday for a showing of the movie “Cars 2.”

Hotdogs, chips and drinks will be served from 5-6pm, followed by entertainment by “Those Funny Little People” until 6:45pm.  The movie starts at 7pm.  You can bring blankets to sit on but no chairs.

It’s sponsored by the Oglesby Police Department.

Semi Hauling Breakfast Foods Rolls Over In La Salle

After being closed for much of Thursday one of the ramps to La Salle from Interstate 80 reopened early Thursday evening.

The exit ramp from westbound I-80 was closed when a truck carrying Pop Tarts overturned around 7am.  Traffic on I-80 wasn’t affected.

Thomas Hall of Gulf Breeze, Florida was driving the truck.  He wasn’t hurt.  Tickets are pending.
