Santorum Coming To Dixon

If you want to get close to one of the Republican presidential candidates, your best chance could be Monday.

Rick Santorum is planning a noon rally in Dixon in front of the Ronald Reagan statue along the city’s riverfront.  It’s called a “Rally for Rick”.  Santorum also has stops planned Monday in Rockford, Moline and East Peoria.

Candidates Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich have spent time in the suburbs while Ron Paul held a rally earlier this week at U of I.

Underage Drinking Party In Bureau County

Police in Depue say they busted an underage drinking party.

They went out to the home of Rafael Moreno Thursday evening on East Fourth Street and arrested him for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, resisting an officer and permitting a minor to be intoxicated.  He was taken to the Bureau County Jail.

Three teens were arrested including Travis Seibech of Depue.  Names weren’t released for two other boys from Depue caught at the party.

La Salle Teen Wins State Spelling Bee

Do you ever watch the national spelling bee on television?  You could see a teen from La Salle competing this year.

13-year old Grant Innis won the state spelling bee yesterday in Peoria.  The Lincoln Junior High eight grader now advances to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. on Memorial Day weekend.

Spelling is in the Innis family genes.  Grant’s mom Gretchen placed third in the 1980 state spelling bee.
