If you think you could qualify, call the Tri-County office.  The program runs through May 31.

Harrisburg gets $1 million grant for road project

HARRISBURG, Ill. (AP) – The tornado-ravaged community of

Harrisburg is getting a $1 million grant to improve access to the city’s hospital.

A powerful Feb. 29 tornado left seven people dead in the southern Illinois community.

Plans have been in the works since at least last year for improving access to Harrisburg Medical Center by alleviating flooding on one of the main arteries to it.

The funding includes $350,000 from a U.S. Department of Transportation grant, and the rest from an Illinois Department of Transportation grant.

Time to set the clocks ahead

Don’t wake up an hour late Sunday.  Remember to set your clocks ahead one hour before bed Saturday night.  Daylight savings time begin at 2am Sunday.

It’s also a good time to change the batteries in your smoke detectors.

DUI charge for person involved in crash

Drinking and driving could leave you arrested and with dinged up car.  La Salle County Sheriff’s Deputies were writing tickets for Fermin Reyes of La Salle early Saturday morning.

They say Reyes got into a crash on Route 6 near Ottawa and drove away.  Reyes was arrested for DUI, obstructing police, and leaving the scene.
