La Salle Rotary Park topic of informal city council meeting

La Salle Rotary park and Prairie Park master plans will be examined Monday night during an informal working meeting of the La Salle City Council.   The meeting is at 6pm at City Hall.

Let’s see how you do it

Depending on where you live, your ambulance service could be part of your fire department. It’s that way in Princeton. And it’s something the Peru Public Health and Safety committee has been researching. Princeton Fire Chief John Petraikis will be talking about how Princeton runs their service at 6:30pm Tuesday at the Peru Municipal Building. Last month the committee heard a presentation from the company that La Salle hired for an ambulance service. Representative of the Peru Volunteer Ambulance Service will make a presentation on Tuesday, January 24.

Winter Wilderness weekend

Instead of spending the day inside where it’s warm, you could bundle up and head out to Starved Rock State Park. Winter Wilderness Weekend continues today in Utica. There will be guided tours through the park including the ice falls at 9am and 1pm. The tours are free. You’re also likely to see the bald eagles. Meet at the Great Hall for the guided hikes.

Sheriff’s office

This weekend, so far, the Sheriff’s office found its lawbreakers in the wee hours of the morning. At 12:30am today (Sunday), deputies were sent to the 1500 block of East Main in Streator for a disturbance. 27-year old Tracy Tkach of Streator was arrested for battery, aggravated battery and resisting arrest. She was taken to the county jail.
