Vandalism reported in Streator

Nothing says Merry Christmas like a broken windshield. Police in Streator are looking for the person responsible for a broken car window Wednesday in the 1000 block of Park Street.

They may be the person that slashed all of the tires on a van in the 300 block of Third Avenue.

Nobody has been arrested.

Teenage boys accused of damaging several vehicles in Spring Valley

Ready for your kids to go back to school yet? Four teenage boys in Spring Valley are accused of spending some of their summer damaging other people’s property.

Last week, Spring Valley officers got several complaints about mirrors and doors of vehicles being damaged. The vandalism was spread out across town.

Two 14-year-olds, a 15-year-old and 16-year old all from Spring Valley have been arrested for criminal damage to property along with violating curfew.  The teens were released to their parents.

Vandalism spree in Peru over the weekend

Your help is needed in solving an outbreak of vandalism in Peru. Peru Police Chief Doug Bernabei says there were numerous cases of “criminal defacement” that happened between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

The damage was done near the homes at Liberty Village as well as other houses in that area. Bernabei says the vandal or vandals used spray paint and markers to deface property with offensive language and symbols. Anyone with information is asked to call Peru Police Department or Illinois Valley Crime Stoppers.
