La Salle County crand jury indicts brothers accused in Shell station robbery

Brothers accused of robbing the Shell station in Grand Ridge were among the people indicted by a La Salle County grand jury Tuesday.

David Downey of Ottawa and Christopher Downey of Marseilles are charged with armed robbery. Christopher Downey is also charged with aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude police.

Police say the brothers held up the gas station along Route 23 the night of January 30 and then lead the police officers on a chase.

The Downeys remain in the La Salle County Jail with their bonds set at $300,000.

Streator Robbery suspect being sought

A blue eyed man in a camo coat. That’s how Streator police describe a man who robbed Streator Community Credit Union at 302 North Park Saturday morning. In their release, Streator police said an employee reported the robbery about 9am and said the suspect fled on foot. A search of the area by police found nothing.  Police said the crook’s face was concealed except for his eyes when he approached a teller demanding money. No weapon was mentioned or displayed, however, the employee handed over an unknown amount of money.

If you have any information regarding the incident, you’re asked to call Streator Police. The Sheriff’s office and the FBI have joined the investigation.

Update: Two men arrested after a home invasion in Cedar Point

A couple of unwanted guests to a home in Cedar Point have two men from La Salle facing charges.  Michael Gadd and Austin McAdams of La Salle are accused having pistols that were likely airsoft toy guns when they robbed the house before sunrise Thursday morning.

Police say two people were home at the house on Fourth Street when it happened. Gadd and McAdams were arrested for aggravated robbery and residential burglary and were taken to the La Salle County Jail.

Robbery ends in LaSalle parking lot

A bowie knife is what police say a man used to rob the LaSalle Casey’s General Store. Police were called to the store around 7:30pm Friday.

Police say they got 28-year-old Chad Heroux in the parking lot. Police say Heroux was wearing a ski mask when he went inside. They also say he had a large bowie knife when they found him. Heroux was arrested for armed robbery and was taken to the La Salle County Jail.

Teenager accused of attempted armed robbery at Tonica gas station

A teenager in Tonica could be spending the rest of summer vacation in a detention home.

La Salle County deputies say they got a call just before 10pm Tuesday about an attempted armed robbery at Casey’s General Store in Tonica. They arrested a 15-year-old boy in Tonica for the alleged crime.

He was taken to the La Salle County Detention Home.
