New name chosen for Mendota hospital

Posted by wlpo on December 10, 2014

Experiencing a medical emergency in Mendota? Soon you’ll be taken to the St. Paul Medical Center. That will be the new name of Mendota Community Hospital once the takeover by OSF Healthcare System is complete.

The MCH Board of Directors chose the new name last week. The hospitals announced in May that the process of merging had begun.

The new name will become effective sometime in the spring of 2015 when a blessing and dedication ceremony will take place.

Mendota Community Hospital officials continue process to join OSF

Posted by wlpo on October 8, 2014

A hospital in Mendota is a step closer to becoming part of the OSF Healthcare System. Officials with Mendota Community Hospital and OSF have signed an affiliation agreement.

The hospitals announced in May that they had started the process of merging.

Margo Gallagher Schmitz, President of Mendota Community Hospital’s Board of Directors, says integrating into the OSF Healthcare System will allow MCH to better serve the community.

She says you’ll get greater access to integrated primary, secondary, and advanced health care services.

MCH officials want to have the process completed next spring. The affiliation needs the approval of the Illinois Health Facilities & Services Review Board.
