UPDATE: Man and woman die after a crash in Dixon

A crash in Dixon killed a man and a woman and sent two children to a hospital. 76-year-old John Brown and 34-year-old Misty Noah of Dixon died Thursday after an accident at Route 2 and North Frontage Road.

Lee County Sheriff’s Deputies say Brown was driving a minivan that pulled out in front of a Yukon driven by 31-year-old Nicole Wagner.

Brown was pronounced dead at KSB Hospital in Dixon. Noah died at a hospital in Rockford. Two children that were in Brown’s van were flown to Rockford. Their conditions were not available. In all, eight people were in the minivan.  The crash remains under investigation.

Grandson accused of killing grandmother and himself in Dixon

A grandmother in Dixon is dead and police think her 27-year-old grandson was the killer. Investigators say 71-year-old Josephine Howard died Tuesday afternoon from multiple stab wounds.

Howard’s body was found after the Lee County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the home she shared with her family in Dixon. Outside police say they found Theodore “Ted” Howard covered with blood from stabbing himself. He died after being taken to KSB Hospital in Dixon.

Police think the grandmother and grandson had been fighting and are considering their deaths a murder-suicide. An investigation continues by the Lee County Sheriff’s Department and coroner and Illinois Crime Scene Investigators.

People from Mendota and Amboy hospitalized following head-on crash

If you were following the story about the head-on accident on Route 52, three people were taken to hospitals, including a four-year-old boy.

Police say Bennie Sumner of Mendota was heading south on Route 52 late Friday morning when he crossed into the other lane and hit Cyril Ward of Amboy.  Sumner was flown to OSF St. Anthony’s Hospital in Rockford and was listed as critical Friday night.  Ward was flown to Rockford Memorial Hospital and was listed in critical condition Friday night.  Brayden Ward was taken to Mendota Community Hospital.  His conditions was not available.

Lee County Sheriff’s investigators say they were looking into seatbelt and cell phone usage but they that don’t think drinking or speed were factors.

ATV crash leaves an Amboy girl hospitalized

ATV’s might seem like fun but they can be dangerous. A seven-year-old girl is hospitalized after the ATV she was on collided with a deer.

The crash happened Sunday evening in Lee County. Police say Brian Dees of Amboy had the girl sitting in front of him and the girl’s mother, Cassandra Gray, sitting behind him while they road on Sublette Road. Police say nobody was wearing a helmet.

All of them were taken to Mendota Community Hospital. The girl, Makenzie Rutherford of Amboy was transferred to Rockford Memorial Hospital where she is in critical condition.  Gray and Dees were treated and released in Mendota.

Dees was tickted for operating an ATV on the road. He was also tested for drugs and alcohol but police say the results won’t be available for several weeks.
