Social media helps nab an alleged burglar in Marseilles

Not long after posting pictures on their Facebook page, the Marseilles Police Department arrested a man accused of stealing money from a Casey’s General Store.

Police say Louis Babcock of Ottawa stole money from a cash register while the worker was waiting on a customer and then left. It happened early Monday morning.

The police department posted the photos Monday afternoon.  Babcock was arrested Monday by the Ottawa Police Department and was taken to the La Salle County Jail. He faces a charge of burglary.

Men from Naplate accused of burglary in La Salle

Lock your car, your garage and your house. Two men from Naplate are accused of stealing from cars, garages and a house in La Salle.

Charone King and Michael Weber were arrested early Sunday morning. Police began investigating after someone on 23rd Street called the police about two suspicious people.

The Utica Police Department and La Salle County Sheriff’s Department became involved and the two were arrested for residential burglary.

Police say King and Weber could be responsible for more burglaries. They were being held at the La Salle County Jail.

Burglary charges after items go missing from Ottawa cars

Another reminder to keep your car locked. Two men have been arrested after allegedly stealing stuff from unlocked cars in Ottawa.

Police say the burglaries happened in early August. Arrest warrants were issued. Timothy Guynn of Streator was arrested last Thursday by the Streator Police. Ryan Summers of Ottawa was arrested Saturday in Ottawa. Both face three counts of burglary and were being held in the La Salle County Jail with their bonds at $20,000.
