Items from former Hennepin steel mill being sold at auction

An online auction is underway to sell off what remains inside the former ArcellorMittal steel plant in Hennepin.

Items up for bid include overhead cranes, refurbished motors, and many hand tools and toolboxes. A preview day was Monday. The auction opened Tuesday morning and continues through 10am Thursday. The auction is through Heritage Global Partners.

ArcellorMittal closed the plant in March 2009. The building was sold to IPS Steel last November.

City of Peru to auction off old trucks

A pickup truck capable of plowing snow, commercial lawn mowers and a big, old van are a few of the things up for auction in Peru. The city is using a sealed bid auction to clean house.

You can get a look at the trucks and mowers Tuesday when they’re available for inspection outside of the parks and rec garage on the south side of Washington Park.

Bids must be turned into the City Clerk’s office by nine next Monday morning.
