Suspicious man accused of having meth in rural South Ottawa Township

If you notice someone suspicious in your neighborhood, call the police.

La Salle County Sheriff’s deputies say they found methamphetamine on a man that was walking in the area of East 1704th Road and County Highway 66 in South Ottawa Township.

Benjamin Norville of Noxville was arrested Thursday morning for possession of a controlled substance. Norville was being held in the county jail with his bond set at $30,000.

Charge upgraded for man accused of harming an infant

Earlier this week, Classic Hits 103.9 WLPO told you about a man that was arrested for domestic battery after allegedly injuring an infant. Thursday the charge was upgraded to felony aggravated battery to a child.

Jacob Sprostan of Oglesby was in court yesterday. He was arrested by the Oglesby Police Department Tuesday night after a two-month old baby was taken to St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley for serious injuries. The baby was flown to St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Sprostan is being held in the La Salle County Jail with his bond set at $50,000.  His next court date is November 21.

Oglesby man arrested after an infant was injured

Injuries to a two-month-old baby has its father facing a charge of domestic battery. Jacob Sprostan of Oglesby was arrested Tuesday night.

Oglesby Police Chief Jim Knoblauch says they were made aware of the baby’s injuries after the child was taken to St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley and the police were notified. The child was flown to St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Its condition was not available.

Sprostan is being held in the La Salle County Jail.  Knoblauch says the charge could be upgraded by the La Salle County States Attorney’s office.

La Salle man arrested for a felony drug charge

A drug charge has a man from La Salle in jail.  Melvin Townsel, A.K.A Polo, was arrested Tuesday afternoon on a warrant for unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.

Investigators with TRIDENT say he sold cocaine to someone working with the police.  He was taken to the La Salle County Jail with his bond set at $1,000,000.

Correction: The arrested man’s name is Melvin Townsel, not Melvin Townsend.  Classic Hits 103.9 WLPO News regrets the error.
