New development is good news for La Salle property owners

Posted by wlpo on December 6, 2016

Thanks to some new business development, the amount of property taxes you pay if you live in La Salle could be headed down.

The La Salle City Council put on file Monday night a tax levy that will ask for $2.4 million in property taxes, a 3 percent increase from a year ago. While the city will collect more property taxes, the increase is expected to be covered by new business development that has increased the city’s assessed valuation.

The biggest reason the city is asking for more in property taxes is a projected 8 percent increase in paying for police pensions.
