Patience could be a virtue while voting

Posted by wlpo on November 8, 2016

While you may have everything you need to go to the polls, there’s one more thing you’ll want to take, patience.

According to La Salle County Clerk JoAnn Carretto, lines to vote early formed what she called a “never-ending line” on Monday. She says she’s expecting the polls to be busy Tuesday, too, as her office has seen more than 7,000 early ballots compared to the previous record of 5,100. Carretto says her office is “as prepared as it can be” for the sheer number of voters.

While she says she expects 70% of registered voters to cast their ballots, which would still be far from record-breaking. In 1992, more than 83% of registered voters in LaSalle County actually voted, which is the current high.
