Education showing up big on Election Day ballots

Posted by wlpo on November 8, 2016

Tuesday could be a big day for the future of L-P High School.

If you live in the high school district you’re being asked today to vote yes or no on a $38 million referendum to renovate, alter, repair and equip parts of the high school. Specifically money would remove asbestos, add sprinklers, increase handicap accessibility, secure entrances and renovate classrooms and labs.

While the L-P question is binding, voters living in the Waltham Elementary School District will vote on a couple advisory questions today. One asks if the district should build a brand new school replacing both current school buildings while the second advisory questions asks a new Waltham building without raising property taxes.

A binding question today that will have both La Salle and Bureau County voters answering yes or no is to consolidate Dimmick and Cherry School Districts.
