Posted by wlpo on November 6, 2016

It was fine weather for being outdoors Saturday, but Conservation police said leg injuries were plentiful. The most serious was a man climbing a deer stand near Putnam.  Sgt. Phil Wire said a bolt broke, it gave way leaving the man to hang upside down 15 feet above the ground for almost 2 hours.  Wire said the man is lucky to be alive after suffering broken blood vessels in his face and eyes. His name was not given, but he was taken to St. Margaret’s Hospital.

A 61-year old Peoria woman attempted to jump down to a lower part of the trail she was on at Starved Rock State Park.  Unfortunately, she kept sliding on the sandstone and suffered a possible broken ankle.  Ottawa River Rescue and Utica EMS got the woman to IVCH.
