Threats from “Clown” Online Lead to Soft Lockdowns of Henry Schools

Posted by wlpo on October 8, 2016

While Rockford Police were receiving calls about suspicious clown sightings earlier this week, Henry police are now dealing with the clown madness online.

According to the Henry Police Department, a “soft lockdown” had to be conducted at both schools earlier this week. The reason for it stemmed from an unidentified “Clown” who joined in social media conversations the kids were having. Police aren’t sure if it is one or more than one individual involved with the “Clown” postings.

In a post on their Facebook page, the Henry Police Department are asking parents to “realize the seriousness of the incident.” They also say parents should talk about the consequences of making the threats with their children.

Police say the investigation into identifying and charging those responsible is ongoing. In the meantime, Henry Police will continue to provide a police presence at the schools.

Ottawa Teen Arrested after Drinking, Driving, Speeding Saturday Morning

Posted by wlpo on October 8, 2016

It’s never a good idea to get behind the wheel after messing around with alcohol. It’s even worse if you’re doing it under the legal age.

Shortly before 1:00 Saturday morning LaSalle County Deputies stopped 18-year old Katley Gavin of Ottawa. She’d initially been pulled over for speeding, as police say she was going 84 in a 55 mile-per-hour zone.

Things would get worse for her though, as she was arrested for driving under the influence and illegal transportation of alcohol. She would be taken to the LaSalle County Jail where her bond will be set.

Governor Rauner among many Planning to Visit Starved Rock State Park this Weekend

Posted by wlpo on October 8, 2016

If you were wondering whether Starved Rock is going to be busy this weekend, you’d only need to check out the governor’s calendar.

Governor Bruce Rauner is among the tens of thousands planning to head out to Starved Rock State Park this weekend. According to his public schedule, he’s planning to be at the Visitors’ Center at 10:30. Both he and his wife Diana will be hiking some of the trails.

They’re not the only ones with those plans. The state is preparing for the possibility of temporary closures of the park this weekend when and if all parking spots are filled. You can check for updates on the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Facebook and Twitter accounts.

No parking is allowed along park roads or highways. Parking at Starved Rock Lodge will only be for folks who have reservations.
