Heat wave in the Illinois Valley’s rear view mirror

While it won’t take long to break a sweat working outside today, temperatures are a lot more manageable than they were over the weekend.
The National Weather Service has put together a summary of this past weekend’s heat wave. The warmest day for Peru was Sunday with a heat index of 111. It felt like 108 on Thursday and topped out at 102 on Saturday.
In Morris, Sunday was also the warmest day with it feeling like 113 with the humidity. Pontiac meanwhile hit 117 with the heat index on Sunday and 116 on Thursday.
