Downtown boom helping La Salle’s bottom line

Posted by wlpo on July 19, 2016

The city council of La Salle has put together its annual wish list, otherwise known as an appropriations ordinance.

The city plans to spend around $6.6 million out of its general fund which includes the police, fire and public works departments. Some of the bigger planned expenses are water and sewer infrastructure projects.

On the revenue side, Finance Director John Duncan thinks the city could see sales tax dollars go up by $100,000. Duncan says the downtown retail boom could be a big reason.

He also projects La Salle to bring in about $20,000 more in video gambling revenue over the next fiscal year.
