Motorcycle crash claims life of Princeton rider

An avid motorcyclist, Norman Lucas’ last ride happened on Interstate 74 near Mahomet.

The 63-year-old from Princeton was pronounced dead at the scene of his crash Sunday afternoon. State troopers say Lucas was riding through a construction zone when he tried passing the car in front of him. He lost control and went off the interstate.

Traffic on I-74 was backed up both directions after the fatal crash.
