Skoog Says Governor Bruce Rauner Should Sign $700 Million Funding Bill

Posted by wlpo on June 16, 2016

An Illinois Valley lawmaker is calling on Governor Bruce Rauner to sign an emergency funding bill into law.

State Representative Andy Skoog says the bill would provide funding for mental health services, cancer screenings, and in-home care for the elderly. Skoog says the bill didn’t receive any votes against it in the General Assembly.

He says the state’s Commitment to Human Service Fundwould be the source for the $700 million bill. According to Skoog, the bill is an “all-too-rare example of people putting aside their political differences.”

The bill was sent to the governor back in May, and he has yet to act.
