Pavement Problems gave way to Snarled Traffic on I-39

Posted by wlpo on June 16, 2016

We’ve all had to add some time to our drive before because of a crash or bad weather. But, have you ever been slowed down because the road itself gave out?

You had to do that last night if you were planning to take Interstate 39 South between LaSalle and Oglesby. State Police were forced to close that stretch of the interstate because a part of the road had given out. The buckled pavement was found south of the bridge on I39.

Oglesby Police reported an accident that had occurred just before 7 due to the buckling. IDOT crews were called out to repair the road. They finished the fixed around 10 last night and the interstate was reopened.

You can see the buckled pavement for yourself by checking out the Classic Hits 103-9 WLPO Facebook page.
