Weekend attendance mixed at Starved Rock

Business was booming at Starved Rock State Park Sunday, according to 1 employee.   Jolyn Wise,  Park Naturalist, said there was about 12,180 people at Starved Rock Saturday and 1666 at Matthiesson.  Wise suspected the threat of rain Saturday discouraged visitors.

Wise said they were considerably busier Sunday.  2700 people had visited the Starved Rock Visitors Center by 1pm, with another 3 hours yet to go before closing.  Only 1700 utilized the center Saturday.  Last weekend,  the Memorial Day weekend, Wise claimed the visitors center entertained 6000 people on Saturday,  better than 11,000 on Sunday and better than 9000 on Monday, Memorial Day.
