Push continues to get feedback on large L-P tax proposal

Posted by wlpo on May 23, 2016

If you live in the L-P School District, more mail is coming about the proposed $67 million tax referendum.

Surveys with about a dozen questions should arrive in your mailbox this week. The school board wants your feedback before they go ahead and put the tax question on the November ballot.

During a presentation to the La Salle City Council Monday night, L-P Superintendent Steve Wrobleski says it’s not cost effective to demolish or abandon the current high school. A brand new high school would allegedly cost over $121 million.

Alderman Jim Bacidore hasn’t been won over by the idea. He likely spoke for many older L-P graduates in saying they got by just fine with in the current building with more students than there is now and they made it without air conditioning.
