Streator leaders propose veterans home in old hospital building

When not voting on bills, lawmakers in Springfield usually are hearing from people lobbying for something. On Wednesday, Senator Sue Rezin was being told about the possibilities of a veteran’s home opening in Streator.
Streator Mayor Jimmie Lansford and City Manager Scot Wrighton visited Rezin in Springfield to propose turning the old St. Mary’s Hospital into a state veteran’s home. OSF Healthcare owns the hospital right now but they eventually plan to move healthcare services to a yet to be built outpatient clinic somewhere else in the city.
Illinois currently has four veteran’s homes including the one in La Salle.
