New OSF partnership could be huge help for veterans

Posted by wlpo on April 9, 2016

Veterans in the Illinois Valley may not have to look as far for certain types of treatment anymore.

OSF Healthcare announced they’ve been accepted to be part of the VA Choice Provider Program. That means if a veteran is using the VA for medical care and needs a specialist; they may be referred to OSF instead of possibly having to go out of the state.

Melody Berry is the Vice President of Accountable Care Services at OSF Healthcare. She says OSF’s acceptance into the program speaks to the quality of care the hospitals can provide. She did stress, though, that the program is a partnership with the VA, and you must still work with them to access the VA Choice Services at OSF.
