Peru Investigation into Heroin Sales Nets 10 Arrests in 10 Weeks

Posted by wlpo on April 6, 2016

This year, it’s been rare that a week has gone by without someone arrested for selling heroin in Peru. This week is, now, no exception.

Peru Police arrested 30-year old Darwin Vazquez of LaSalle at noon Wednesday. Vazquez allegedly sold heroin to undercover cops, according to police.

The arrest was the 10th for selling heroin that the Peru Police made since the end of January. Peru Police Chief Doug Bernabei promised Vazquez’s arrest “would not be the last.” He went on to say the investigation into drug sales in the city would now be expanded to include cocaine.

Vazquez was taken to the LaSalle County Jail. His bond was set at $1,000,000.
