Police still looking for suspect in Peru Mall robbery

Posted by wlpo on April 5, 2016

You’re help is still need in solving a robbery outside the Peru Mall.

Nearly a week after a woman says she was jumped and robbed in the mall’s parking lot, Peru Police Chief Doug Bernabei says the robber has not been caught. In fact Bernabei says they’ve had very few leads. Making things tough is the mall doesn’t have outside surveillance.

Last Wednesday night the victim was walking to her car along with her husband. As the woman opened her door, a man described as being black, 5’10 with a slim build wearing a black hoodie and black pants came up from behind and grabbed her purse off her shoulder. The robber allegedly ran with the woman’s purse to an orange or red pickup, possibly a Chevy Avalanche.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Peru Police Department at 223-2151.
