Plane spends night in Peru field after emergency landing

Posted by wlpo on March 25, 2016

A plane that landed in a muddy field north of Peru arrived at the Illinois Valley Regional Airport via a tow truck.

Peru firefighters and airport workers spent part of their Friday morning getting the single-engine plane out of a muddy field and onto a nearby road where it was then brought to the airport in Peru. The plane which only had minor damage spent Thursday night in the field north of Interstate 80.

Forty-two-year-old Patrick Sullivan of Chicago was attempting to land at the airport in Peru because of engine failure. He didn’t make it and instead landed the plane in a field. Sullivan wasn’t hurt.
