Rural King ping pong ball drop has Peru mayor concerned

Posted by wlpo on March 22, 2016

Is this just a fun promotional idea or a disaster waiting to happen?

On Saturday, April 30th, the CEO of Rural King will be above his Peru location in a helicopter dropping ping pong balls filled with prizes. The prizes will range from 5 to 10 percent off coupons and $250 gift cards to a free firearm assuming the winner passes a background check. There will also be food vendors and live music.

Although they really don’t have a say in the event, members of the Peru City Council are a little leery about the ping pong ball drop. Mayor Scott Harl wants to know more about flight regulations with the helicopter along with insurance liability. Alderman Dave Potthoff thinks traffic could be a mess.
