La Salle County moving ahead with Dee Bennett Road realignment

If you’ve ever driven along Dee Bennett Road after any amount of rain, you’ve probably been wishing for a way to keep the water down.

LaSalle County and even the federal government share that sentiment. Unfortunately, they’re not expecting a solution to come overnight.

The LaSalle County Board has approved spending more than $700,000 just to do a study to explore options for moving Dee Bennett Road. They’re hoping to move two miles of the highway leading up to the intersection with 178 in Utica.

Because the road leads up to a dam, the federal government is footing the majority of the bill. The county recently got a grant that will pay for more than $550,000 of the study. It will be up to the county to pay for the rest.

The study could take up to 2 years to finish.
