The Voice’s Yacavazzi in Ottawa Thursday

NBC’s “The Voice” has given face time to notable performers over the past years and 1 of them is coming to Ottawa for St. Patrick’s Day. Natalie Yacavazzi and her band “Spoken Four” will be at the “Lone Buffalo” Thursday. That according to the “Lone Buffalo” Facebook page.

Natalie auditioned last year for “The Voice”, but no mentors accepted. However, this past Monday, she returned to sing Kelly Clarkson’s “Mr. Know It All”. Adam Levine, frontman for “Maroon 5” offered to put her on his team.Yacovazzi works in Tinley Park as well as sings. She is a single mom with a 5 year old daughter.

The performance will be in the evening, but the exact time isn’t known. “Lone Buffalo is at 812 LaSalle Street in Ottawa.

NBC/ WSJ Poll says Trump leads in Illinois

Donald Trump leads the Republican presidential field in the March 15 primary states of Florida and Illinois, while John Kasich holds the edge in his home state of Ohio, according to 3 new NBC News/ Wall Street Journal/Marist polls.

Trump leads by nearly 20 points in Rubio’s home state of Florida, but the race is tighter in Illinois.

Extension Service offers cooking class

The University of Illinois Extension Service has changed with the times. With the number of 1 person households at 26%, the local 4 county extension service is teaching a “Cooking for 1 or 2 class” next week. The single person house occupant may eat a lot of leftovers or have a freezer full of food.

Nutrition Educator, Susan Glassman will show ways to shop, prepare and store food for 1 or 2 person households. The class will be taught at 5:30pm March 21 in the Ohio library on north Main Street. Registration is due by this Thursday by calling 224-0889. There is a suggested donation of $3 per person for material fees.

“Home, Garden and Lifestyle” show next Sunday

City Council has plenty of work Tuesday

It seems the Ottawa City Council has plenty on their plate Tuesday night. Requests will be made to advertise for bids on 2 storm and/or storm & Sanitary improvements and to advertise for bids for demolition of blighted houses.

Resolutions coming before the council include 1 to authorize a contract with Spectrum Communications for marketing, 1 authorizing the sale of certain real properties to Starved Rock Homes Development Corporation and another for reappointments to the Flood Commission. An ordinance to adopt a north TIF extension is also on the docket.

Trump speaks to 3000 at Bloomington

The most controversial man running for President, Republican Donald Trump spoke to a capacity crowd of 3000 Sunday morning at the Central Illinois Regional Airport in Bloomington. That word from the Bloomington Pantagraph. Trump’s speech was at the Synergy Flight Center on the airport property.

The Associated Press said some 1000 protestors had pledged on Facebook to be on hand to greet the Billionaire businessman/ candidate. The story made no mention of any interruption or disruption by the anti-Trump group. Sonny Garcia, local activist with the “Dump Trump Campaign” had appealed earlier to both sides to avoid violence if they interact.

Spring like weather is to continue

It appears this week’s weather will behave as if it were early spring. The National Weather Service says thunderstorms aren’t expected here Sunday, but showers are.  Fog will develop by early Sunday afternoon. Early indications for Tuesday are for thunderstorms – some possibly severe. Gusty 45mph winds are forecast for Wednesday. The warmest day of the week will be Tuesday at 67 degrees. Daytime temperatures late in the week will be in the low 50’s.
